Sabrina è sempre stata affascinata da questo sport, praticato da suo padre, appassionato di tiro con la pistola. Da bambina ,però, amava di più i cavalli. All’università, a causa dei numerosi impegni, ha deciso di lasciare equitazione ed ha iniziato a cercare uno sport che le piacesse, provando e scartando Kung Fu perché non le trasmetteva il senso della competizione. Così, riscoprendo la passione che aveva fin da bambina, un giorno si è presentata al poligono di Busto Arsizio, dove l’allenatore di carabina che ha incontrato, le ha detto che per fare questo sport serviva impegno, lavoro e serietà. E’ stata proprio questa l’affermazione che l’ha convinta a “gettarsi a capo fitto” in questo sport per provare a rivivere lo spirito di competizione e le emozioni delle gare.

Il momento più bello, che ha vissuto fino ad ora, è stato quando è riuscita ad entrare nella finale assoluta degli ultimi campionati italiani: pur avendo tirato male un colpo, grazie ad una rimonta condotta con grande grinta e tanta voglia di raggiungere l’obiettivo, ha concluso positivamente la manche di qualificazione.

Ma in una carriera ad alti livelli ci si trova ad affrontare anche il momento più brutto: al campionato d’inverno del 2018, ha perso per 0,1 decimi di punto, classificandosi seconda di categoria, non ottenendo quindi la possibilità di partecipare alla finale assoluta, riservata solo ai vincitori.

Sabrina ha deciso di fondare un’Academy per chiunque voglia provare a seguire le sue orme.  Due sono i principali motivi che l’hanno spinta insieme al fidanzato, Riccardo Armiraglio, anch’egli tiratore con la carabina, a fare ciò: il primo perché il tiro a segno insegna abilità che sono utili anche nella vita quotidiana, come controllare le proprie emozioni ed abbassare il battito cardiaco; il secondo è di dare ad un gruppo di ragazzi  basi tecniche solide sulle quali costruire e migliorarsi.

Il messaggio principale che Sabrina vuole trasmettere è: “Se si vuole raggiungere un obiettivo, l’importante è lavorare sodo con impegno e costanza”.

Sabrina giudica eccellente il lavoro svolto fin qui con l’Academy: anche se i risultati sperati sono stati raggiunti solo in parte. Si aspetta di vedere miglioramenti già da quest’anno perché il livello tecnico dei ragazzi è in crescita nonostante la loro giovane età.

Per mantenersi ad alti livelli, Sabrina si allena per circa 20-24 ore alla settimana che si concentra soprattutto nel weekend, a secondo delle gare in calendario.

Nei momenti decisivi delle gare riesce a gestire bene la tensione perché quando spara si concentra molto sulla tecnica, gestendo la respirazione ed abbassando il battito cardiaco. Quando tira, si concentra molto sull’esecuzione e non sul numero di colpi che le mancano, metodo che non le crea ansia.

Qual è il fattore principale che fa sì che questo sport sia poco conosciuto e poco praticato?
“La gente non conosce questo sport ed associando le armi alla violenza, lo etichetta come una disciplina pericolosa”.

Sul finale racconta il suo sogno: “… spero che arrivi il giorno in cui la gente percepisca il tiro a segno come una pratica che ha come obiettivo principale, oltre alla precisione, quello di gestire, controllare e saper riportare le proprie emozioni… uno sport che insegna a conoscere se stessi, educando per la vita”.
