SUNDAY 21 OCTOBER 🙂

Hello to all 🙂
I’m writing to you from the living room of the house of Simon in Isiolo, Luigi is here with me, the son of the brother of the wife of Simone with mum and dad and his brò, Simone.
I think back to the day today, Sunday, October 21.
Wake up at 6:30, greeting the elders of the family and walk a bit ‘in the garden, enjoying the fresh air that rises from the surrounding savannah, after a night of heavy rain.
At night, in contrast to the past, was comfortably calm.
From the first awakening, I heard breathing a different atmosphere from that of yesterday, an air of celebration, colors, elegant dresses, a coming and going of amazing people, friends, acquaintances, relatives invaded the house of Simon.
Today is Sunday, I thought.
After breakfast, I organized with Mama to go along with Mass in the church not far from here.
Mass Start 9:00 h, 12:30 h end placed.
Accustomed to our classic set of canonical hours, at first glance three hours and thirty may seem endless, but so it was.
The secret of spending time in a beautiful manner I think I was singing.
The Mass is sung throughout, from the entrance to the exit of the same priest.
Songs from the text incomprehensible to me, sing in two languages Swahili and Turkana.
Amen = amine
Mungu = god
These are the two words that I understood, during the Eucharistic celebration built on folk sounds beautiful to listen to.
After finishing the religious function, get back home.
I greet and play with some children, some people are more shy and less, shake his hand, saying:
Mimi naitwa Gabriel, nawewe? “, I think it is humanly impossible to remember the names of all the children I have seen and known today.
After lunch we all played together, under a bright sun emerged from the morning clouds that threatened rain.
Meanwhile, more and more people flocked in the garden and from there dispersed in the two houses to greet their loved ones.
We then gathered together to discuss the project, we came in contact with a charity of Rome, who said he will help us personally, we felt a little ‘breath .
We have listed the difficulties that can occur during the construction of the supporting structure, the material which is necessary for the assembly, the stock material to wear in the case should fail somewhere, realized a test of the water pumping and analyzed certain types of stones , here in Isiolo, for compatibility with the project, especially in the aspect of pH and electrical conductivity.
The hour of dinner.
Everyone has a role, those who cut the onions with a power tear indescribable,
proven in my eyes, who equip, cook.
Menu of the day: fusilli pasta with meat sauce, cheese, zucchini and onions.
Two are the moments that are etched in my memory of this day:
the first, the chants of the Mass, the second, play with the kids all together.
Good night to everyone.

DEPARTURE FOR THE LAKE

We are almost at the long-awaited day, tomorrow, Wednesday, October 17, we leave for the village Loyangalani on Lake Turkana.

Loyangalani is a village in Kenya populated almost exclusively by the Turkana tribe, although in recent years have found even Samburu settlement.

The present population is estimated at around 12,000 people, and much of it is devoted to fishing.

The Turkana tribe who lives in Loyangalani survives on fishing for tilapia and Nile perch.

The first is caught with networks, while for the Persian hooks are used.

A Loyangalani is presentela Missionedella Consolata, which currently consists of four sisters and a missionary, Brother Andrew.

In this mission is the only medical clinic in the area.

Within the same there is a hot water spring, where water flows at a temperature of 39, 5 ° C.

It is the only drinking water the whole area, it is recommended to prevent gastrointestinal problems, to purify, by the use of carbon filters active, ceramic and other types.

Having the water of Lake Turkana pH 14, drinking can cause major problems and only the tribe of Ol Molo drinking can cause damage to the kidneys.

The times to visit Loyangalani from April to November, this is because from December to March, the temperature can sometimes reach I58 ° C.

It will be a long and done in stages, first of which is Nairobi, the capital, where you will meet some friendly people of Simon and where we will make some necessary purchases for my budget to the lake, to manage and have oversight of the project.

We will make a brief stop in Nanyuki, to continue to Isiolo, where shall we buy the last things needed for the project.
Having as logistical support and operational build the house of Simon the frame, we will test the water circulation, we will test the number of plants that we can grow, etc …

Once this part of the project, full of hope and positivity out again again without multiple stops, hopefully, to Lake Turkana, nicknamed “The Jade Sea”.

ANGERA WITH CHAI 🙂

Yes, it’s called just that, as our charming town on Lake Maggiore, this typical kenyan dish. In the kitchen Hellen shows us how to prepare these African crepes served with savory fillings (cheese & cheese) or sweet (Nutella), good taste!

MAGI – WATER

We talked about water, this word is beginning to weigh in this part of the world.

In our many meetings, the preparation of the Pilot Project Hydroponic at Lake Turkana,  is often spoken of water, its potential uses, its deficiency, malnutrition due to food, its potential energy applied to mechanical, statistics extracted from the Report of the FAO, “the state of food insecurity in the world 2011” of places where the lack of water is visual to the naked eye and influence the lifestyle of local people.

The date for the departure is scheduled for Tuesday, October 16.

Destination Loyangalani, the village of Lake Turkana.

Our first stop will be Nairobi, the capital, where we will meet Marco, a volunteer of the international onlus.

The second town will be Isiolo, there we will start the realization of the project and then carry it to the final destination by jeep, accompanied by Dominique Lociuc.

We will pass from the immense mass of blue water of the Indian Ocean, to the unreal landscape of the savannah, to cross the frontier on the grasslands of the desert Chalbi.
It will be a long journey, full of experiences and encounters, humans and animals, we will immerse ourselves in places where very few people have dared so far, but all they are charged back to the primordial truth.
